The Family Assistance and Parent Support Program

Supplemental Programs

The Family Assistance and Parent Support Program will make available a number of educational and treatment programs designed to provide practical assistance to all members of the family.  The program will develop a list of resources in each local community and make family members aware of the assistance programs available.  Where possible, high-quality programs, which are already available in the community, will be included on the list.

Where programs are not available, they will be developed for each community.  These programs will help family members deal with the emotions and difficulties involved when a family breaks up, and thereby help to significantly reduce the conflict so common with separation and divorce.

Some of the programs that will be available to all family members will include courses, workshops or professional treatment in the following areas:

·            Parenting and co-parenting education and counselling

·            Dealing with separation and divorce

·            Anger management

·            Stress and depression

·            Substance abuse by parents or children

·            Adult and child sexual abuse

·            Children's and family activities

·            Social networking

·            Solving financial problems and minimizing loss

·            Parent and teenager conflict

·            Programs to help reunite families

·            Single parenting

·            Child and parent re-involvement program
