The Family Assistance and Parent Support Program
Program Funding
It is intended that the court will order each parent to pay for their proportionate share of the program based on their income. Compared to current litigation and court costs, the program costs to be paid by the parents will be far less then that of comparable proceedings involving litigation. Should however, the parent who wishes to have this program implemented wish to pay for the entire cost of the program on a voluntary basis, this can be arranged as well. It is felt however, that sharing the program’s costs will be more effective in discouraging abuse of the program by the parent who may refuse to participate in the program.
If the registered participants do not have sufficient financial means to fund their share of the program, the government may assist them with a program similar to legal aid. This process will allow monies to be diverted from the process of adversarial litigation to family reconstruction.
