The Family Assistance and Parent Support Program

PREFACE

W

elcome to the Family Assistance and Parent Support Program.  This resource information manual has been designed to assist judiciary, family-intervention and other professionals or organizations interested in implementing this program for the benefit of children and their families during and following separation and divorce.

This program was created by Family Conflict Resolution Services, a non-profit, community-based, family-conflict resolution organization, to help lay the foundation for all those striving to cooperatively create new direction and leadership for families in the process of separation and divorce.  The combined efforts of many family-health, legal and individual professionals from the community at large, who are familiar with matters affecting families in this process, have also contributed to the enrichment of this child-oriented, community-developed program.

This program may not be suitable for every family-conflict situation, but is flexible enough to provide solutions for a vast majority of families who experience conflict during their separation and divorce.  This program accomplishes the fine balance needed in being highly flexible without loss of integrity.  The legal and health professionals involved with this program will make every effort during its implementation to ensure that the founding principles are maintained.
